The Education committee of the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce is an active organization that participates and promotes: Partners in Education, "Teacher of the Year" Award, College for Texans Campaign, D.E.A.R. Day, Job Shadowing, and mentoring.

Partners in EducationThe purpose of Partners in Education is to encourage business involvement in schools to prepare students for the future by promoting partnerships between Waxahachie Independent School District, businesses, and organizations. These parternerships show an understanding that the economic well-being and vitality of our community are tied directly to the school system. 

College for Texans, a project of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, is promoted throughout the year by the Education Committee through the distribution of pamphlets and brochures. $4 billion dollars is available every year to help Texans attend college and College for Texans is designed to give Texans everything they need to know about preparing for, applying for, and paying for college or technical school.

D.E.A.R. DayD.E.A.R. Day or "Drop Everything And Read Day," is an event that stresses the importance of reading to every Waxahachie ISD student grades pre-K to eighth. Once a year local business owners and citizens become guest readers and read aloud to students for 15 to 20 minutes. Businesses also assist in the purchasing of books for local schools. 

The purpose of the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce Job Shadowing Program is to allow high school students to gain “hands-on” experience in the field of their choice so they can make educated decisions about their future college majors and career choices. The program runs during the summer months and the internship schedule is decided entirely by the student and employer. For more information on Job Shadowing, email the Membership Director.

Mid_Way Regional AirportThe purpose of the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee is to continue to support the region's mobility needs, the adequacy of available resources to address those needs, and strategic efforts to increase funding for surface transportation.

More specifically, the Transportation Committee promotes the "Annual Fly-In Pancake Breakfast" at Mid-Way Regional Airport and supports a community transit service, the operation and development of the Mid-Way Regional Airport, and the Trans-Texas Corridor under the direction of the Texas Department of Transportation.


Ellis County CourthouseLegislature is very important for Waxahachie and Ellis County. Transportation initiatives, education, and community development will be high on the agenda. Planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development will be key in this legislative year.

The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is a voluntary association of, by and for local governments, established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, City Hallcooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound mutual development. To visit the NCTCOG website, click here.

Crape MyrtleKeep Waxahachie Beautiful is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that participates and organizes: reduce, reuse, recycle, adopt-a-highway, youth awareness programs, renovation of historical districts, Residential Yard of the Month program, Business and Industry Yard of the Month program, and the annual Christmas lighting contest. The mission of Keep Waxahachie Beautiful is to preserve the natural beauty and protect the environment, making the city of Waxahachie and the state of Texas a better place to live.

Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), a statewide grassroots environmental and community improvement organization, named Keep Waxahachie Beautiful as a Silver Star Affiliate at their annual meeting in Plano in June 2006. KWB is one of more than 340 towns, cities, and counties in KTB’s statewide network that take responsibility to care for the community environment. To achieve this status, affiliates are required to share information on their mission and goals, answer questions about their public education programs and partnerships, and submit an application for a Keep Texas Beautiful or Governor’s Community Achievement Award.

Keep Waxahachie BeautifulKeep Waxahachie Beautiful partners with Keep Texas Beautiful during the annual Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off each April. It is the single largest one day cleanup event in the state where nearly 200,000 volunteers offer their time to keep the state beautiful. KWB also promotes community beautification by selling thousands of blue bonnets and wild flower seeds each spring.

Crime Prevention Council

The Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization whose members work to reduce crime in the city by providing a hotline and rewards for the anonymous reporting of crime tips that help local police in their investigations. Waxahachie Crime Stoppers offers education, training and research sources for law enforcement agencies as well as the general public.

Membership is composed of local citizens and businesses that contribute their dues to support the organization's directive. Volunteer opportunities are also available, and membership contributions are tax-deductible. Stopping crime is the responsibility of every citizen. We welcome you to join the Waxahachie Crime Stoppers and help us help you fight crime! 

National Night Out (NNO) is a unique crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Crime StoppersTown Watch (NATW), and is held annually in Waxahachie with the cooperation of the Waxahachie Police Department and local volunteers.
